As a Data Scientist at Sensum you will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team of AI specialists, developers, designers and world-leading psychologists, all striving to produce cutting-edge products. Sensum is at the forefront of emotion and human state classification in real-time, real-life scenarios, ranging from the automotive world to gaming, extreme sports and beyond. We pride ourselves on the robust theoretical and scientific foundation on which our products are based. However, we are continually pushing to learn and improve, and as such are looking for ambitious, self-driven Data Scientists to join our team.

Our analysts and algorithmic design team are data enthusiasts who are skilled in the art of deriving meaningful insights out of complex, physiological data sets that can provide real value to our customers.

Our team builds tools to classify human emotions and states such as stress, fatigue and positivity in real time, from multimodal data sets (eg. biometrics, facial coding, voice patterns, and contextual data from various sources).

We create intuitive visualisations to convey their derived insights and design experimental protocols to collect training data for our machine learning Synsis™ engine, which is at the heart of Sensum’s technology. We are a small, agile team of highly motivated and experienced staff within a casual work environment that promotes self-direction, open discussions and good, honest science.

Relevant Skills (you should have most of these):

- Experience in algorithmic development and data science applications (including data processing, visualisation, analysis and real-time outputs).

- Experience in data science development in relevant language(s) (R / Python / Matlab etc. With a particular preference for applicants skilled in R )

- Experience in practical application of machine learning principles.

- Experience designing and carrying out experimental studies.

- Experience working with clients and presenting research findings to a commercial audience.

Additional Skills & Experience (ideally you should have some of these):

- MSc/PhD in relevant field.

- Knowledge of human physiology and statistics.

- Practical experience in Python / Javascript.

- Experience of cloud-based development and deployment (AWS services such as Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM, API Gateway, etc).

- Experience in database application and administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc).

- Knowledge of emotion theory (psychology perspective).

- Experience with Version Control, Github etc.

- Experience in parsing, producing & maintaining technical documentation.

- Can work as part of a multidisciplinary research and development team.

- Flexibility to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.

- Awareness of relevant data protection legislation (eg GDPR, DPA, etc).
